It's gotta be a fuse, replace the critical ones, even if they don't look broken, there's a chance that they are. Is a tail light out as well? If so, that's definitely a fuse, if not, I have no idea...

You could use an ez splice connector instead of stripping the black wire.

Easy splice connector

I know if i was trying to strip just the case of the wire, there would be a huge chance of me just cutting the wire. LOL

Actually it looks like you're using the wrong wire. According to HMA you should be using a Red/white striped wire instead of the pink wire, not a blue and red striped wire.

edit: After a quick run through each year's wiring diagram, here is a list for the wires needed to be capped off and replaced with a ground, for each year.

97 (1.8 + 2.0) = Red/white
98 (1.8 + 2.0), 99 = Brown, Blue, or Black (the color is only listed as B, however I would assume Blue or Brown as black is usually reserved for ground))
00', '01 = Pink

Hopefully someone with a 98 or 99 can find out which color the wire is.

Sorry for the confusion, I thought I was only providing info for RD2 owners in the original thread. Strike probably should have checked the diagrams to make sure this worked on other models before posting this general DIY.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (daneeboy83 @ Jan 13 2009, 04:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I found out there is no fog lamp bracket and no wire harness.
I asked a hyundai mechanic to fit and make brackets for me.</div>

Thats because on the 99-00 Elantra the fog brackets are on the bumper brackets, so to install the fogs to OEM fitments you'll have to remove the cover bumper and change the bumper brackets ... the brackets are around 25$ each if I remember correctly!
