The purpose of this DIY is to allow you to turn on your stock fog lights when your parking lights are on, rather than just turning them on only while the headlights are on.
Thanks to Frozen for the knowledge of how to do this!
Time to completion (depending on your proficiency with removing the dash): 30min
Tools needed:
Philips screwdriver
Wire tools (wire cutter, stripper, soldering iron, xacto knife, electrical tape/heat shrink)
Steps:
1. Remove upper dash (remove shifter, shifter surround, radio surround, lower dash, disconnect heater cable, remove upper dash). It doesn't have to be completely out, just far enough for you to unplug the foglight switch.
2. Disconnect the foglight switch (left side)
3. CUT the pink wire! Strip it back about 1/2 an inch. (Ignore the cut green wire here, goof-up from another unrelated project)
4. Strip a spot on the black wire using the xacto knife.
5. Wrap the stripped pink wire around the black one, solder it in place, and wrap it with tape. Cover all other loose wire ends (like the other end of the pink [and my green wire that was sticking out]).
6. Test it, then reassemble dash, don't forget to reconnect the heater cable.
7. It works!!

^^^ Now you're being picky, lol. I'm not sure about Hyundai, but most of the time the manufacturer uses the same harness and the plug should just be tucked away back there.

Mwood, I have no idea, but I would assume it's the same. If you have the stock wiring harness, and if the aftermarket fogs still only turn on with the headlights on, then I'd assume this would still work.
^^ Yes, it should be the same for a 97, I'm not sure about the wire color though, seems as those change from year to year. Color might be different, but the pin number on the plug should still be the same.

Mwood I drive elantra 99 and the foglamps harness was not tucked anywhere.
My car didnt come with fogs but i got a set and tried to do it myself...
I found out there is no fog lamp bracket and no wire harness.
I asked a hyundai mechanic to fit and make brackets for me.
Fogs work with dimlights. And the fog lamp switch that turn on fogs on RR also work the Fronts.
So i can run dims without fogs aswell.
I think this would be the most user friendly option.

Just to add to this...If you have a '97 like I do, the wire you need to cut is blue with a red stripe, and the one you need to connect it to is green with a black stripe. The pin number is the same.
I don't know where my edit button went but, I did this and now my headlights are messed up. sad.gif My right headlight and left corner are both out. I don't get it. No fuses were blown but it won't go back to the way it was before now. Any ideas?
