Not to go against you bullfrog but I would like to leave this thread open. It's possible someone may come by and offer an alternative or some more advice on certain parts.

I know it's a header diy but I don't think a diy thread should be closed.

Its not the number of cats you have its the position of the o2 sensors... as long as you have one before and after the cat... o2 before the cat measures the A/F and the one after the cat is to make sure your cat is working properly.

You need 2 cats to meet California emissions standards.

Either way youll get rid of the one in the manifold obviously. Noone is adding another cat after putting a header on.

He was talking about a stock dual cat setup.

^yes as ericy said. if it had a dual cat setup factory. mine does and ill be putting a header on and see how close it comes to fitting onto factory piping. im putting a full aftermarket on while i do this, but it would be a bit of information handy to have.

in otherwords they may be made to fit dual cats instead of single cat factory setups.

^^^just make sure you review the steps above, skim even but mainly look at the pictures closely. You'll notice I did have the dual stock cat setup but gave up the first cat that is part of the exhaust manifold. You should also notice that the cheap eBay headers will probably leave you with a 6-8 inch gap in your exhaust piping between the header and 2nd cat (they supply a shorter downpipe w/ flexpipe). Check out my solution so your prepared but if your having a shop put on aftermarket it should be no more work for them then to supply a longer downpipe.
