Since I installed my cuda spoiler, I lost my 3rd brakelight (it was in the stock wing). So with inspection approaching rapidly, I improvised.

Parts needed:

Drill, Philips head screwdriver, Silicone, WireNut/WireButt/Solder, and a 6" Red LED bar.

Take that LED bar, and put it in a low temp. oven for a few minutes. The caps will pull right off. Keep the pieces apart, you'll need to aim those LEDs later.

Remove the screws holding on the plastic pieces on the inside of the hatch (center and passenger side pieces), and remove.


Take the center piece that sits closest to the roof, and mock up the LED tube to drill the pilot holes. Then, drill.


Then drill a hole so that the cord will go through the plastic on the passenger side. Fill the end-caps of the LED tube with silicone, and aim where you think the LEDs should point.


Install tube and run wire. Reinstall the plastic piece. You should have enough time to aim as needed with the hatch closed.


splice the wires of the LED tube (pos/neg) up to the harness (pos/neg), and it'll work like a charm!


reinstall the other two plastic interior hatch pieces and you're done!

 

Good DIY...I can sort of see the 3rd brake light between the taillights. cool.gif
