You removed BOTH resonators right? The upper and lower? Bottom one was a bit hard to get to.

If you are going to replace the filter, put in the extra bucks and get a CAI. Unless you are scared.

just look at the throttle body. u should see two hoses connected to it on the bottom of it. just mAKE it so that one of the hoses goes out and then right back in to the TB. make the other hose pull a U- turn and go directly back to where u took off the first hose. the coolant line going to the throttle body is only to keep the TB from freezing in really cold air(about 15degreesF and below).

 

So silly question, but just what does the resonator do to begin with?

 

It's put in there to quiet the engine noise some. If you've taken yours out you'll notice that your car sounds VERY VERY nice now. It even sounds better with a CAI, and then an Exhaust of course.

No harm in taking it out at all. Doesn't mess your warranty at all. More benefits than anything.

well I did it, I ended up taking it out and MAN.. it's like I added one of those god-forsaken coffee-can sized mufflers on the back, but with adding actual power as well!

heya, just started reading these forums a few days ago. Kinda curious about all this stuff, so i should be able to do this mod if i've never done anything somewhat like it before?

 

Yeah, simple tools and about 20 minutes of your time.

 

i took out my resonator about 6 months ago. I pretty much pulled it out since there was a screw I couldnt get to. I always thought the MAFS was closer to the manifold.. I dont remember pulling any wires off...... damn now I gotta check...

 

Ok, in this picture on the left you can see part of your IM, then as you go right you will see your TB, then the vacuum hose and bending down to the right corner of this pic you will see your MAF.
