<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (tibby01 @ Aug 20 2005, 10:27 PM)</div><div class='quotemain'>heaters have a power and ground wire. that switch has a power and ground for illumination, a power and ground that drive a relay to turn on the heated seats, and something else.<div align='right'><{POST_SNAPBACK}></div></div>

Could that be a control for the temperature? Sounds like that is the only thing missing.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (tibby01 @ Aug 20 2005, 10:27 PM)</div><div class='quotemain'>i personally think you guys made a wrong move buying those switches. sure, they look factory, but you lose the adjustable heat setting, and you dont even know any specs of the switch. like how much it is rated for.

You do have a pretty good point. But really they all came from the same spot no? It's just that you can only get them through European dealerships.

im thinking the extra terminals on the switch are for turning off power if the heaters get to hot.

Sounds fair. What about this adjustability thing? Is it already ready with the heater pads that we can get here in North America? And how do we lose the Adjustability?

I'm not using them for the heated seats but I'm just curious.

i beleive the switch that comes with the seat heaters have a hi-low-and off position. That's it. You give up that low position when you use factory switches.

OK, I was looking at webtech some more and I think I figured out the wiring. Wires 1 & 4 in the factory switch are for illumination with the headlights and wires 2 & 5 are for the LED that would come on when you turn on the heater. Apparently there is no wire 3 so I guess that would make wire six the power wire coming from terminal 87 on the relay. So would I ground wire 2 and split 5 & 6 from the same power wire so the LED would come on? Does any of this sound right?

Ok I got my switches, put them in and it looks nice.

Illuminated at night and they work. Well the car was already equipted with the connectors so all I had to do was put them on and that was it. There are 2 connectors beneath my seats for the heaters. But if I would order the ones from conrad, I would have to cut off the connector and connect the wiring direct right ?

The DIY looks nice, but I've got leather seats (option) so would the process be the same or would the leather seats be sticked together differently ?

Because I didn't want to destroy the wiring of the car, I decided to cut the wires of the Conrad heater pads and soldered some blade terminals (flat connections) to them. They fit perfectly into the sockets under the seats.
Sorry, I don't know if leather upholstery come off like the cloth ones.
