I have a leather interior (stock) and I have on both the passenger and the driver side 2 connectors under the seats smile.gif

So the wiring is there already. I can then probably just swap my change holding plastic middle console thing for the stock seatheater buttons, nice.

So anyone here finished the seat upgrade yet ?
How did it work out for ya

 

I got mine done tonight. It took me a good four hours all total, although the second seat went much faster, and I wasn't in any hurry doing this.

Unlike in the DIY, with the GB pads you have to remove the cover on the seat back, since these are long pads and can cover all of the seat. Once I figured out how to remove the panel on the back of the seat, it was easy. Also, the pad for the seat back has to be trimmed as close as possible on the sides, and a bit off the top as well. The pad for the bottom cushion didn't need to be trimmed.

I had to redo a few zip ties that I could feel through the covers, which meant repeating several steps.

Overall, this is a very easy install, just somewhat time consuming. I might hook the driver's seat up to an auxilliary channel on my alarm, and set the button to be latched. Then in the winter I could warm it up before getting in.

 

yeah i did one of mine last saturday. exactly as you said, wasnt hard, just time consuming. When I do the other one im going to have a camera so I can make another DIY for people with the new pads.

 

Not to bring an old thread back from the dead, but I'm finally getting ready to install my seat heaters from the group buy a while back. Did anyone get theirs wired up to the factory switches from the heated seat switch GB? If so, how? And did you wire the power and ground directly to the battery? Did you use a relay?

 

you should be using a relay with these.

 

But how do I wire them to the switch. It's a 6 wire plug. The heaters are only two wires.

 

heaters have a power and ground wire. that switch has a power and ground for illumination, a power and ground that drive a relay to turn on the heated seats, and something else.

you need to take a multimeter to the leads on the inside of the switch to figure out which two leads show continuity when the switch is pressed in only.

i personally think you guys made a wrong move buying those switches. sure, they look factory, but you lose the adjustable heat setting, and you dont even know any specs of the switch. like how much it is rated for.

 

The adjustable setting I'm not worried about. I would like the illumination though. I looked at webtech earlier and the way they have it worded I didn't understand what it said.

 

is it possible to buy just the seat heater pads (both) from the dealer. It's have to be from a European Hyundai Dealer and you'd have to pay shipping but the wires would hook right up to the factory switch.

Any wires hook up to a factory switch, you just find a schematic of the switch, solder in an illumination +/-, the switch's +/- (where it gets power from), and the accessory you're running's +/-
