They were sort of PC's, but almost all the software you could buy for them (on cartridges) was games. I had the add on tape drive that used regular cassette tapes, so at least i could save the basic programs I wrote.

we have a lot in common! wonder if this somehow contributed to our senselessly tuning cars...
90's kid all the way. I played the hell out of systems. Back then you were Mr. Popular if you had the latest system.
1. Atari - Pitfall, Pong, Star Wars
2. Gameboy - Link's Awakening, Kirby's Dreamland, Donkey Kong Land
3. NES - Zelda, Mario Bros, Addams Family, Rambo
4. Genesis - Lost Vikings, Lion King, Altered Beast, NBA Jam (He's on fiiiiirrrrre!!!!), X-Men
5. SNES - Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, MarioKart
6. N64 - MarioKart 64, Goldeneye, Super Mario, Zelda, Beetle Racing, Rush, Top Gear Rally, Cruisn' USA
7. PS1 - Need For Speed II, NFS: High Stakes, Driver, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil
8. Dreamcast - V-Rally 2
10. PS2 - World Rally Championship, GTA 3 & Vice City
PC games that were fun were Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now, Counter-Strike, Shadow Warrior/Duke Nukem 3D.
I stopped there. Let me just say these systems and their games (except crappy dreamcast) defined an era. It was so much fun entering these new worlds and transitioning from 2D to 3D, begging your parents for those consoles behind those locked glass cases at Toys R Us and when they said no you were sad for the rest of the day. Running faster to get home because you just got a new system waiting for you.
I have the original first issue of Nintendo Power in pristine condition.

You had a Jaguar too? They're pretty rare since the systems were like $700 and that was when most consoles were about $200. Games were about $100. I ended up selling mine because I couldn't afford the games and the system never really caught on.
