Here's the deal, I absolutely love my Acer laptop as far as specs and performance but I can't deal with the heat issue. I've been contemplating the switch over to Mac for my portable machine as I can run any OS I need for any application used for work or school. The only thing that has stopped me is lack of any personal recommendation so I want to know what you guys think. Also if there's another notebook besides a MBP you have that you just love I'd like to know about them also. Oh and btw, sometimes... nekkedposter.gif

I have the Acer Ferarri for home use, and I use the Macbook Pro and G5 for home audio studio. It really depends on what you're looking to do. Mac's are great for audio and graphic applications, but for just regular internet surfing or playing games....stick with a PC. Just my 2 cents. smile.gif

I'll most likely be running Linux on whatever I get, so be it a "PC" or "Mac" isn't so much the issue. It's more about quality of construction, features, and does it burn your balls off after sitting in your lap for an hour. I'd like to give Mac OS a go but that's a lot of cash to shell out for a trial deal. I use my computers for a lot more than your basic surfing. Some audio/video editing, lots of movies and music while working, lots of photo editing, development etc. Actually probably won't try any gaming on the laptop as I barely have time for it on my desktop any more. I supposed I just feel burned after shelling out over 2k for the Acer only to have it basically be a big carbon fiber covered paper weight tongue.gif

I personally (if I had the $$$$) would get the macbook pro...as you can set it up [if it has the dual core] with windows and leopard...so you can have a dual boot to cover all your needs for operating systems....this was my game plan and still is. I have played around with the macbooks and feel their construction is pertty decent as well as the software is easy to learn and nice overal features. But as you stated that is a lot of moola to shell out for a trial...you can always sell it for a % off of sticker value if you don't like it.
