Default Decided to upgrade my RAM

I only have 512 MB of RAM in my Desktop PC (I dont use it too often, since I have my laptop, and my Apple Powerbook & G5 for sound stuff and everything else). So I ended up buying two 1 Gig sticks of memory on Ebay (brand new) for only $30. The motherboard can handle it (it has 4 slots for RAM). I noticed that the computer has been a little sluggish when I have a few programs open at once, so figured a new upgrade would be the way to go.

Cant wait to see what kind of performance I'll get out it by almost quadrupling the RAM. smile.gif

RAM is probably the single most cost effective upgrade you can make.

And remember, some comps will run faster with an even number of RAM chips. You may find that your comp runs faster with 2 x 1Gb than it does with 2 x 1Gb + 1 x 512Mb

Yeah, 512 + XP = slow. I have 1G on my 98 machine and it's maxed out.

^^^ Probably be faster with 2 sticks rather than the 3 you're running. Most boards run better with an even number of sticks... 2 or 4, not 3.

I have 4gigs of RAM on my laptop. But my graphics card is such garbage that I cant run Diablo 2 in 3D. I have to run it in 2D. Im never buying another no-name brand computer.

Got the RAM yesterday. Made a HUGE difference in performance. I'd upgrade my Alienware laptop with more RAM if I could, but its already maxed out. Oh well. smile.gif
