Best video editing software for .mov and .mp4 files?
My digital camera records in .mov files
My go-pro records in .mp4
The only current software I have is Windows Movie Maker. I know, I know, I have a hunch most of you will say that Windows Movie Maker sucks, but for tech retards like me, it is easy to use.
The problem is, windows movie maker will not edit .mov and .mp4 files.
In the past I've just converted the .mov and .mp4 files to wmv files, but this causes a loss in quality. It is also time consuming and a huge pain in the ass.
Can anyone recommend a video editing software that will edit .mov and .mp4 files AND (most importantly) is as easy to use as Windows Movie Maker?
Any help is appreciated.

Vegas is about the best software you can get in that price range. I use AfterEffects almost exclusively but for an NLE Premiere is my weapon of choice.
Now if you're prepping the footage, getting a good video converter like Super or Virtual Dub would allow you to prep the footage into jut about any format you want. You can go as crazy as you want in prep, I frameserver all of my footage through virtual dub and convert to MJPEG, it's nearly lossless and requires few sources to edit but the filesize is pretty huge.

You can try Sony Vegas if you go to sonycreativesoftware dot com. I have downloaded Movie Studio 11 (on amazon dot com for less than $25) and am going to check it out.
