Thumbs down Attention: You have no privacy!

There is a generation gap forming. The gap is between those who know they have no privacy and those who resist it. The younger people accept it. The older folks do not.

Take a moment to realize a few things.
1. Every tweet or facebook comment you place and every game you win an award on is permanently attached to your name.
2. Every picture you put on your photobucket account is still there and searchable.
3. You are on camera a good portion of your average day without even knowing it, for reasons of security. At work and even stop lights.
4. Nearly every page you visit is logged on the site you visit by IP address, yes, even porn sites.
5. Your Internet Service Provider logs your IP address and the time it was logged in. That information can be used to trace your access to porn sites or file sharing .
6. Since This June, Your Internet service provider has the right to turn off your service if you are engaged in an activity which is deemed illegal, such as file sharing. http://action.ffii.org/acta/Analysis
7. Between the ACTA and the Bush Administration anti-terrorisim acts, the government has every right to spy on every citizen or put pre-emptive measures in place which stop file sharing or other illegal activities.
8. You have a significant presence on the internet. Everyone does.

Check this out, put your name in here:

Just though I'd let you know if you didn't already.

And with the abundance of information out there, unless there is something that's going to require somebody to look for you, it's likely not being specifically used against you. It's aggregated data for the bigger picture most of the time.

I don't agree with it though. It's scary. One good thing that I read today:

cmon guys, seriously...

if you think for a moment you can keep anything private while you do anything on the internet you are solely mistaken.

You do know that your IP address is logged by the site and accessible by the administrators. If they are summoned in court, they can prove weather or not you were here at a specific time. There's alot of cool stuff you can find out about a person based on their IP address, where they're from, who they go through to get service.

If I wanted to, I could take an IP address, exploit a vulnerability and then upload a custom program which will send commands to your computer to be executed by me. Effectively pegging you for the criminal for my wrong doings. The scam would go like this: Fake court official gets an IP address from HA administrator, uploads a anonymizer to your computer, utilizes your computer's IP.

Lets see.... Lee.... ehm... Supposing I don't even know you.... Even though I do.... I'm starting with UrS0NvS Hyundaiaftermarket as my only reference.

37 / Male WAMEGO, Kansas, US. You work for Dymax Inc as a welder building heavy construction equipment attachments for front end loaders and bulldozers. You are a moderator at some site called RDTiburon.com. You like cars, You also like Archery and will travel great distances to go to tournaments. I've linked you to Aaron, Carey, April, Cassie, Brad, Bishop, RedZman. You have an Android phone because you're in the droid forums.

Supposing I want to hire you for a job or scam you out of money..... Ie.... archery competition or car show in your area.... Get the message out to you and your friends, then rob you blind while you're not home.

That website is weak, or my privacy is strong. My landline phone # doesn't show up, and neither does my email with my real name as the user name, on frikken YAHOO. laugh.gif

deadhorse.gif

I realize the following
1. Every tweet or facebook comment is either innocuous or I stand behind it.
2. Every picture on my photobucket account was put there to be viewable and searchable
3. At work it's on a revolving/deleting loop, and most of the traffic lights have sensors, not cameras. And the cameras are low-res.
4. Duh traffic is logged
5. Duh traffic is logged
6. Since This June, Your Internet service provider only has one MORE way to chop off your service
7. Obama's not exactly repealing the patriot act, and has nobody ever heard of Echelon? (hi guys! ) .
8. My presence on the internet is limited to what I allowed to be known in the first place. Not everyone took the time to care before posting their drunken revelry on myspace.

i know what you are saying but still people try day in and day out to rob from me and i catch them everytime.

i had a debt collections agency call me last week saying i owed over 200 bux on a old cell phone account from 2003.

they gave me the correct cell number, correct address at the time, etc. and demanded payment on the spot. i told them i would research this and would call cellular one about this.

now since 2006 i have been trying to clean up my credit history and knew for a fact that this wasn't on my record. cellular one would have flagged me back at least 2004 if i had a substantial amount owed to them right?

so i called cell one and sure enough the account was paid in full on july of 2006. i asked for a conformation number which they gave me and i called the debt agency back. i gave them that number and basically told them to stick it where the sun doesnt shine.

got one , same thing about debt on a cell phone 6 months ago, probably same agency. did the same and called the provider and found out they were wrong.

you will only get taken if you are not smart about things man.

if i was sent a invitation to a competition whether it be a car show or archery the first thing i would do is look up via internet to see if it was a valid club or not that sent me the flyer. with anything archery i pretty much know about every tournament that is going on in the USA. if i don't, i can always get on archery talk.com and find out about it. with car shows in this area they are pretty small and never get advertised much let alone send out flyers to someone that hasnt been to one of their shows in the first place.

got to have your wits about you man.

OK, so I send out an invitation to you and all your friends as well as start a topic on archery-talk about a archery contest in some city and give you a link to my web page like this: Archery Competition (this is just an example of a page which is generated on my website, it's created every time I record a show by a program I made). It's called social engineering. That way you see the proof and your friends are working for me as well.

I'm just saying. There is no privacy. You can find out just about anything about anyone.

The upside to it is things like phones being linked to all of these sites. On Android phones when you call a friend, it shows your last facebook status. It makes things easier, but there is no privacy these days.

I suppose I'm doing pretty good as far as privacy then, put my actual name in the web site. All it listed was my hometown, not where i currently live. It also said I've lived in 2 others towns that I've never been to lol.
