Default today's events...fawk!

So today was supposed to be pretty straight forward, pull the head, check for a misaligned dowel, fix anything that may require attention, and replace headgasket. The removal process was smooth as silk, all was taken apart within an hour. Noticed that the head studs on the right side of the motor was missing a washer, they require two under the nut, and could not tighten down enough to seal the head and block properly. No big deal. As we reinstalled the head the guy helping did not notice the oil feed line was pinched between the two surfaces, it got squished under torque. When I was torquing down the final nut on the final pass the stud let go, there were some weak/rusted threads in the block which caused the hole to strip.

I have sent an email to ARP hoping they have a 7.2" 14mm stud to replace the 12mm stud that tore up the hole.

I will not replace the block but I'm sure ARP will have something...if not;

STAND BY FOR THE HUGE PARTOUT!

aww hell no. just grab another block? it would be a fair bit of work transferring everything over, but breaking anything is a good excuse to upgrade it

I received an email back from ARP and they suggested using a Helicoil before getting a new stud from them, they assured that it would hold the force required to torque down the engine...if for some strange reason it didnt they could machine a stud that was 12mm but with larger threading on the bottom to fit the threads which were tapped for the Helicoil insert.
