Well, I almost died today. We have a turn on the highway that are nictoriously known for accidents. It was raining and I was goign 45 MPH on a 55 MpH. I didn't brake when hydroplaning, but that didn't work so I applied light braking. Is it me or is 4 wheel disc non-ABS USELESS? When the rear wheels lock up, your car will slide everywhere. Tiburon sucks in the Rain. Even with fresh all season tires.
How about the snow? Tiburon suck in the snow, I can't go over 20 MPH without being nervous about sliding.
I love my car so much, but It is only good for the dry cement. geeezzzz. Good Michigan car huh?

I dont have any problems either..the car runs like a champ in the rain and snow..I feel really safe in it. Could definitely be your tires. For my stock tires Im using Kumho Ecstas..their awesome.

Roads are paved differently depending where you live. Areas that get lots of rain, have a different texture and drainage. But when it rains in areas that rearely get rain, it sucks to drive on the roads.

I love how the tib handles in shitty weather, but i hate to drive it because im worried about people who cant drive losing control.
could be your tires, also check tire pressure

I'm thinking, knowing Redneck here, he's still got the stock brand tires on there. They SUCK ASS in the snow, and aren't too great in the rain either. I'm running Cooper Zeon ZPT's, and they are great in the snow, rain, and dry. Love em.

The Tiburon is a decent all weather car if properly equipped with the correct tires. All season tires = no season tires. They compromise performance in all conditions trying to be suitable for all conditions. Some are better than others though.
I currently use Yokohama Avid H4s tires most of the year and Kumho KW-11 winter tires during winter and have no complaints at all. People cannot comprehend how superior winter tires are compared to all-season until they've tried them themselves. You probably get similar winter conditions in Michigan that we do here in Southern Ontario so you would greatly benefit from some decent winter tires.

if you hydroplain in the tiburon it's all tires. i used to think that the tiburons could outmaneuver every other car and wonder why lexus used to get stuck in the snow. it really has absolutely nothing to do with the car. we have this image that one car is better than another but it's really not like that unless you're talking about different classes of cars.
my friends 300zx handles really well on dry pavement! but in the rain no matter what kind of tire you have it'll slide like craaazy. forget driving fast in the rain.
i equipped my car with kumho ASX in the front which handles really really well in the snow and kumho MX in the rear. i slide around a lot but it's really cool because it puts me more in control in the snow because i know my limits when the back starts to slide. both tires are really good in the rain.
i suggest you get some ASX. or maybe pirelli Pzero Nero. all seasons are the best because you don't have top spend money changing setups. kumho came out with a brand new tire i think AGX or something which looks sporty yet it'sd all season. i've heard that the inner tread on those wear out for some reason though but it's worth a try.
i know for a fact that our cars get a lot of understeer. do we even have ABS as an option? if so i swapped my hub assembly to a 2000 spec and i don't have it anymore... because i have an ABS fuse.
what kind of tires are you running?? i know that when i was driving on the highway during the snow at 50mph i had to really countersteer because the car was slipping regardless. i think it has more to do with how small the car is though.

I always keep my tires at 35 Psi and I have Bridgestone Indy 500 all season 195/50R15. When I got the tires, I had a choice between Kumho street tires and Bridgestone all-season. Well, I live in Michigan and I though All-season tires would be more appropriote in my situation.

I think you're right on this one. The road a different texture than the one on the actual highway. It was a smooth texture and the rain made it reallly shiny. It scared the crap out of me. Now I'm afraid to go over 65 on the highway during rainy days. I refuse to buy Japanese branded tires like bridgestone so American, European or Korean tire recommendations are cool.
