every single car i've drove has that... except for certain mercedeses - they have grounding.

it just generated by movement i think..plain physics.

rubber soled shoes + carpet = static electricity.... before you get up out of your seat when you open the door...touch a metal part of the car....that should keep you from getting shocked....some higher end cars have metal plates on the inside of the door for you to rub before you get out

There was a company vehicle that used (Ford Taurus) and no matter how much I tried to avoid it, I always got shocked hard. I think it had something to do with rubbing against the material on the seats and floor as I havn't had that problem with any other car.

When I was in Germany they sold these grounding wires that touched the ground when the car was not in motion. That prevented you from getting the shock. I guess it would be bad if you stopped on a puddle of gasoline.

yeah, there are lot's of antistatic things that will always touch ground. I think it would be good to put it under the car, so it wouldn't be noticable.

BTW trucks that transpots gas has metal chain always contacting ground.
