well, i've had 1 minor accident while making lane changes,
2 accidents for being rear ended.
i'm not saying i'm the best driver out there, but it's ridiculous, because being rear-ended not only damages my car, but it also damages my insurance rating!!

Well You gotta face it that insuracne compaince are only out to screw you and make money.....No I cat really talk because i have a really bad record and have lost my license twice due to too many points ( i have no accidents) But I have now gone 2 years without a ticket and my insurance on my tib is more than my car payment every month...thats life
One of the reasons (one of the VERY few) that I am glad not to be in my early twenties anymore... (or twenties for that matter) Even though it does feel like yesterday I was in college (has it really been over ten years?) I do not miss the days of no money, POS cars, high insurance, and no credit. Good luck to you guys.
Or move to Alberta. The insurance rates aren't as bad here as Ontario, but they are still high. I pay $2000/year w/ a full commercial ryder due to an accident just under 6 years ago that was my fault and an accident 2 years ago that wasn't (got rear ended). I've also been in 2 other accidents, but they were dealt with on a cash basis, so it wouldn't hit our insurance. It doesn't help that the Insurance Institute of Canada has rated the Tib as the worst car there is for insurance claims.
BTW, does anyone else feel like their Tib has a big target on it for other cars? I've been in more accidents in the 2 years I've owned my Tib than in the previous 12 years of my owning cars.

Move to the US. Not that insurance is worth a damn here... but if you change every 2 or 3 years, then you'll be fine. In the US, insurance will be low to try and pull you in, then after a year or 2... it'll suddenly jump jump jump... that's when you've gotta switch companies to get their low rate, until they once again jack it up.
Hope you're able to keep the tib... try to get quotes from other insurance companies (if you're capable of switching)

My car is insured under my dad's name, and I am the primary driver - that helps
I am 28 ,male (been driving since i was 17) *Age/sex/ plays a BIG role in the price.
I have had no accidents, I am a "Class 6" driver, and i'm also insured for a 1992 ford taurus.
I pay $200 a month - and that is crazy! for me not EVER having any speeding tickets or what not.
I have NO points on my licence at all.
I cant believe the insurance company bills me this price !
Its also doesnt help that the Hyundai Tiburon is the HIGHEST STOLEN VEHICLE IN ONTARIO FOR 3 YEARS IN A ROW!!!!!
they dont mention what year, but i am guessing its the 3rd gen stolen the most the last year or 2.
but anyway, yeah the rates are pretty bad for GOOD drivers like myself.
I would like to know why i am giving them $2,400 a year and i NEVER see this money return to me.
I think the government NEEDS to regulate the insurance companies if you ask my

This is old thread, but man, I hear ya so much, when i purchased my tiburon they asked me for 9 grands CAN a year, that would be ~750$ a month my car payments are 270/months, its a good thing i have friend in québec side and my insurance is nos 160/month under my name, but québec rates are much much lower... I said to the lady in ontario insurance : Are you crazy? At that rate im gonna buy a porshe and juste leave it dead in my driveway uninsured for f**k's sake...
