I'm In A Bind
forgive me if my reply doesn't make much sense because I just skimmed the first paragraph and I think I got the jist. You got your shit together, your older brother is a f*** up, you and your wife feel sorry because he either has potential or just family love makes you want to see him do better right?
I got a similar one for you. I moved my oldest brother back from FL to VA in November. He's 40, jobless and been worthless since he's been up here. He finished paying off his 1999 Jeep loan and within 5 hours of receiving the loan he gave up his title for cash at a "Cash Pointe". 2 months later his Jeep is repossessed. Still jobless and living at my moms. Can't even afford cigs and too stupid to quit. Me, I make good money, spend lots, current on bills if not ahead and owe very little. I feel horrible for my brother, I feel guilty sometimes and I feel bad but also know that any money I hand him is as good as handing him air because it will disappear just as such.
I mention all this so you can see I can relate. I know it's hard to not give some help, most likely because at some point in the past your brother, like mine, may have seemed to have his shit together and maybe helped you some. My suggestion is do what I was thinking of doing for my brother, buy him a $500 beater that gets him around. If he's too good for that then he's not ready to accept anything better. He's only ready for a handout that he can have his way with.
Whatever you do, don't get angry with anyone (wife or brother). Keep your mind level, stand your ground, and keep your cars that you earned and worked so hard for.

When some muslim pirates tried to hijack a cruise liner recently, including shooting at it, a retired British engineer threw a deck chair at them and they ran away. No, seriously.

I agree with DTN. shocked.gif
Throw him $500 to get a car rather than destroying your pride and joy. Would you trust him with your first born?!
Better than that, go find a $500 car for him, inspect it, and GIVE it to him under conditions that he will not put anything more than an air freshener on/in/under it.

That's good at least that'll teach him some responsibility. It's a start. And just think, if he chokes on payments, you got yourself another Tibby!
