rubbing compound will be fine on a metalic paint. Remember, you have a clearcoat.
On mine I ended up using 2000 grit sandpaper - wetsanding it, and then I buffed it out with some mcguires fine-cut-cleaner.
good as new - (just be careful you dont burn through the clear coat if you decide to use the wetsanding method)

 

man f*** that. Take it to a professional painter and let the nieghbor pay for that. That's disrespect.

 

Well the guy that was going to do it for us could'nt make it (double booked), said he could make it thursday but i did'nt want to leave case it becomes harder to get off , i've just got in from having ago myself, got me some rubbing compound ,took about 2 hours just to do the bonnet, i'll do some more tomorrow weather permiting, my right arm looks like it should belong to Hulk Hogan now.

But honestly, that's no effing excuse, SURELY they noticed that they were spraying paint all over the place..

Yes, metallic paint can be buffed because the metallic pigment is in clearcoat.. however go easy and use a very fine compound.

I would not use solvent on the clear as that can break it down and reduce the life of it, so buffing is definitely the way to go.

Mind you, buffing is hard work and makes a white mess, so be sure to take it to the finest place around to get it done laugh.gif

I had it happen to my Tib too. House next door was professionally painted on a windy day. Went to go to work the next and it was covered in little white spots.

As the house next door was run by an absentee landlord and none of the tenets knew who painted the place, I had to bite the bullet and claybar it off myself. Took most of a day
