So the revs are going up but the car's not going anywhere.

Hmm...

Doode, I'd swear it's the tranny. Anyplace you can get to look at it for you?

Did you troubleshoot it via Webtec yet?

Can it be just the clutch that it's completely fried? And not the rest of the tranny I mean...

There's 90% chances that it's the tranny itself. The fork on our tranny is pretty weak, and we found out by opening my tranny that all gears were going to go soon too.

Cars are cars. They will ALWAYS break, no matter if it's a Hyundai or an Infinity or whatever. Do you ever stop and think about the complexity of a car? Pretty amazing.

You could just mandate a shop near of where the car is to take a look at it; you can ship them the keys. Then you'd know what the problem is, and you'd have the possibility to have the shop repair it. Swapping a tranny is not hard/long for a shop; 1 day work at most, most likely 1/2 - 2/3 of a day.

sounds like the tranny. same exact problem happened to our older excel a few years back. get it fixed for like $200. i'm sure it's a part. it happened to our '92 5-speed excel one day. we got it fixed for $200 and then my sister got her license and it became her car. she took that car places cars have never been before up and down i-95, doughnuts, races, burn-outs, snow drifts, curbs, hills, speed bumps, jumps, you name it. it never gaves us any problems for the next four years and during the whole time she owned it and we had the car for 12 years.

the tranny is surely stil fine.maybe the gear shaft.

I don't see why someone would want to part a perfectly working car because of a broken tranny. If you really want to get rid of the car, invest $1000 in the tranny repair, and then sell the whole working car for $4-8000.

nah if he puts 1k into it

he basically would be adding 3/4 of what he paid for the car

but seriously abq you should just fix the tranny the rest of the car is in ok shape

plus you know you like it tongue.gif

maybe if you dont want to work on it i can get my techs to do it...i can tell my boss that i blew it and i would like to use my employee discount to fix it....

125 installation charge...
