What are the wheels made of?
I was cleaning my wheels today and I realized that the wheel that is parellel to the ground when cleaned is white. I always thought they were alluminum, but now I don't know what they are made of.

they are all aluminum right? that's what i understand. that is why they don't rust. they are also painted and glossed over i know, but if you get a nasty curb scrape it won't rust because it's aluminum.
when you take a rim and pick it up, it's not the rim that is heavy, it's the tire.

Wheels can be pretty hefty as well... just cause its aluminum doesn't mean its light tongue.gif chromed wheels are especially heavy. Tires with rims on them I think are like 50 pounds is my estimate since I lifted my stockers. Its about 20 pounds for the wheel, and 30 pounds for the Pilots because they are steel belted tires.
not all stock wheels are aluminum.. but those that aren't.. are VERY obvious by the fact they are painted black and have a plastic cover that hides the entire thing.
Aluminum is a whitish metal, chances are you were looking at the reflection of the sky or lights on what you were working on. Aluminum is also self anealing (I think that is the correct term) meaning that if you damage it's surface, it will try and "heal" itself through oxidation.
