I just took my summer rims and tires off for the winter. I noticed the my front tires are completely worn on the inside and outside but the middle of the tire has plenty of tread. I have gotten an alignent last year when I put my lower springs on and I don't take turns ridiculasly fast so I don't know what can be causing this weird tire wear. My rear tires are fine.

Does anyone have any ideas to why this is occuring and how can I fix this? Thanks.

That sort of wear is indicative of underinflated tires.

They were inflated to the specs of the tire.

the number on the side of the tire = the MAXIMUM pressure under a specific load. most passenger tires have max pressure ranging from 40-51 PSI. Our cars, with stock size tires, are recommended to carry 30 pounds of air.

If you say that you're going by what the tire says.... you should be getting more wear in the middle of the tire and not your edges.

don't put what the tire says, go by what the Manufacturer recommends

so tire pressure isn't the cause of my problem. what else can it be?

generally.... if it's an alignment angle (toe), you would only (normally) get wear on one edge, not both...

have you rotated your tires every other oil change? (it's recommended to do it 6 - 8 thousand miles)

OUtta curiousity,... what pressure do you have and what size tire?

But like Blue says,... it sounds like an underinflation situation.

I just checked the tire pressure in my front tires.. 27 and 28 psi. They are 205/40R17 size tires. When I inflate my tires it is to 30 psi (what the guy at the tire store told me to inflate them to) and the max on the tires say 44 psi. Should I be inflating them even higher than 30 psi?

So you guys don't think anything is wrong with my alignment?

i inflate mine to 32 psi

that statement is what confused me... you are lookin at an underinflated tire. maybe just knock the fronts up a lil bit. the only things supporting the weight of a vehicle is the shocks/struts/springs and the tires. w/ all the weight in the front end of a car, the fronts should get a lil bit more, especially w/ a non-stock size wheel/tire
