Default Two screws on brake rotor

I own a 2001 Accent and I'm trying to put generic/take-off steel rims for winter tires. The rims I got fit Civics, which should have the same specs as my Accent (13x5",4-100 bolt pattern, offset should be same).

But, the only problem is that my rotors have two small screws on them, which prevents the rim from seating properly.

What are those screws for? I notice that they have some blue paint marks on them. If I take them off, put the wheels on and show up to the dealer, would they have a problem?

Thanks!

Those two Phillips head screws are only there to hold the rotor will it moves along the assembly line. They can be removed without an problems.

Some MF-er at the local dealership told me that if I take off the screws, the brake disc will rattle.

After talking to him, I placed an order on rims specific to Hyundais, instead of the generic Honda ones that could have worked just as well (for $100 less).

I took mine 2 after I bought my tib so I would have to use a spacer on the wheel and have had no issuses. (I have had my tib for a year)

Definitely won't have a problem. I took mine off shortly after purchasing it. The rotors never rattled or warped.

Good Luck...

Oh yeah...the back drums will mostly likely have one screw on each as well.

When I had my rims installed, those screws were removed. I haven't had any problems, and they been gone for six months.
Like someone said, they are simply for when the cars are assembled.

All those screws do is hold the rotor onto the plate that the studs are on so if you take off those screws you can get the rotor off. with the tire on and all lug nuts tightened properly you will have no problems at all

Wrong. wink

Those 2 screws hold absolutely NOTHING. I took mine out by hand on all four corners. That is unless you are speaking of CAPTIVE rotors. Then you are correct.

Actually those screws can be replaced with longer screms to assist in removing the rotor, rather then using a hammer to. When longer screws are pressed in, the push directly on the knuckle to remove the rotor. Many brake drums also include these screw holes. They can me removed with no problems.
