Is It Time For Shocks And Struts?
my 00 tiburon is at 76,000 miles. is it time i replace my shocks and struts??
the ride isn't perfect, but not terrible either. i was thinking of getting 4 monroe
sensatrac struts and 4 monroe sensatrac shocks. are these an okay brand, i am not looking
for top of the line, but rather right in between...
also, will i need mounting kits for the struts or even the shocks??
also, i should get an alignment right??
as for prices i found the monroe sturts were $68 a piece and the shocks were $28 a piece.
as for the big expense, install how much do you think that would be??
thanks guys, sorry if this post is a little long, but please help me out

Push down on each corner of your car from outside. If the car sort of bounces around instead of one quick rebound then they probably need changing.
Monroe's are reasonable.
You can probably still get KYB GR-2s for cheap on ebay. I have those & they're alright.
Installation shouldn't be too pricey but I'm not sure about prices in the States.

What do you mean "struts AND shocks"?
Struts and shocks are words that refer to the same thing usually (although there is a slight difference on what type part they refer too.)
Our cars's shocks are designed to be replaced with the whole assembly, and not only the cartridge inside the strut itself.
I don't if you meant springs and shocks... or if you meant the shock absorbers and the boots, which is the part that covers the shock rod so that the seal does not wear prematurely...
anyway, I think most of the guys here would recomend KYB over Monroes anytime, I would also. The KYB GR2 are not much more expensive than the OEMs and not much more than those prices you got for the Monroes. I have had GR2s on both my wife's Elantra and my Tib for 2 years and they still handle like new. Besides, if you ever decide to lower your car in the future, the GR2s would mate nicely to virtually any reasonable lowering springs.

In case you're still looking for struts i found a website that will sell them for $197.68 shipped.
CLICK ME!!!!!!
I think that's a steal really. Maybe someone may know of another website that's cheaper than that though? good luck! i'm probably going to buy them here in a bit.

I have the GR2 struts, and while you are working down there you might want somesprings too. I have H&R springs which are very nice. The intall shouldnt be that much just the cost of spring compressors, but all the other tools are basic Im pretty sure. I dont remember how much the compressors were, but they werent much at all (cheaper than a shop by far). The spring compressors cost about $20 it seems from a quick glance on the net.
