Those Of You With Springs!

Intrax would be at my low end of the spectrum for suspension, along with sprint.
Eibach, H&R, HKS, all I would considered and have before Intrax.

im not saying there the best, but there definitly not the lowest end. that would be one of the dozens of no name springs, and coilovers on ebay.
i had eibachs, wasnt happy with the drop at all. maybe an inch around if that. bout the same handling upgrade as the intrax. so those are long gone.
the h and r's are hella soft, and actually a downgrade in suspension for pile_of_rd1 on here. his rear springs did absolutely nothing for a drop, so they actually had to be cut just to lower it to match the stance. and now his ride is softer then it was stock.

That's my point exactly,.. MOST (80%, I'm guessing) of folks out there only want the drop! Put in springs so you can go as low as possible. And like I say, if that's what you're going for, that's fine. BUT, if you're actually serious about a drastic improvement and control and handling, do your struts and sway bars at the same time, and get ALL the suspension parts TUNED correctly and then we'll talk. Trust me, when I got my Eibachs install, I didn't JUST go for springs to improve the look and a bit of the handling, sure it's not a 2.75" drop like the Intrax, only about 1/2 that, but you want to talk about TUNED handling,... it's the way to go. Even without the sway bars, like what REDZ did, he noticed a DRAMATIC improvement, not just "oh yeah, it's lowered"
BTW, Eibach Pro-kits are 1.5" drop once they settle, and the sport lines are about 2.25" once they settle,...
I'd personally spend the extra cash on Eibachs Sportlines, rather than the Intrax if I wanted the extra drop.
Oh and CUTTING springs,... such a no no, and Pile of RD1's the only one that's complained about his H&Rs,... I'd rather trust brian01Tib's opinion, who actually uses his springs, and autoX's with it.... not just someone who doens't like the ride height and cuts it,...

I have H&R theyre much better than stock. I would like to have a stiffer spring, but now that they are in I wouldnt spend more to get more stiffness. If I push on the car the wheels stay with the body of the car. The dive and squat are noticable. The body roll isnt bad at all, but stiffer would be better. Compared to the evo I have alot less body roll. To corvettes I have a little more. Alot of the body roll factor is the car height. I like my H&R springs, but a little lower and stiffer would be nice.
I have H&R-GR2 combo, and for daily driving I wouldn't get one tiny bit of additional stifness, they are really OK for ocassional VERY spirited driving. If you want more stiffness, I'd suggest another setup, like coilovers (kspec have several to choose from) or H&R themselves, you have the CUP Kit for around $600 so...

Dude, the best set up for taking corners is H&R / KYB GR2 set-up, and of course really good tires.
My tib could take turns in very high speeds with no tire squeel at all.
The H&R's are really stiff, ... I freakin LOVED them.

DITTO here.

Of course we are talking about reputed brand names... hardly will someone in RDTiburon recomend --or even compare-- a bad quality part.

Hey, if you are going to judge a spring by looking at your car from the outside, it's OK, but that's got NOTHING to do with stiffness... a spring isn't stiffer BECAUSE it's lower
I don't mean to be rude, it's just that stiffness is one thing and height is a completely different story... spring manufacturers could build springs:
-OEM height butr firmer
-Lower but OEM firmness
-Lower AND firmer
-A LOT lower and firmer
but they don't do itr that way because it would be too expensive to keep short stocks from each group, so the majority goes for a little drop and some firmness.
IMO H&Rs are the firmest you can get on non-special order (springs only, not coilovers or kits); also, to cut a spring is plain wrong, you can search about it here (I think, if you don't find anything several members can tell you why you shouldn't)
ALSO GUYS: Suspension works as whole entity, springs are only one of the elastic elements; you can't get rid of 90% of body roll through springs only! That's what swaybars are for. Also, to comply with VERY hard springs, you'd need sepcial shock absorbers too, none of the aftermarket shocks (maybe except the rock hard Koni's) could comply with VERY hard springs. BTW; I ride on H&Rs, GR2, and Whiteline Sway bars (rear adjustable).

I have the h&r / KYB GR2 set-up. I didn’t like the drop with the h&r so I took them to where I get all my stuff done and they cut them and it came out great I have no complains.

NO! Guys: Cutting springs is a NO-NO;
PLEASE DON'T! (Unless you plan on having your car as a trailer queen and will not drive it at all; I mean if you are going to cut springs and have the car 100% just show, ok, but otherwise, DO NOT CUT SPRINGS).

I don’t think its stupid; I had them for long time and never had a problem with it. People who did it and had problems, probably did them by themselves or some where that doesn’t know what their doing, or something like that. I’m sure you guys have good reasons why not to do it, but I personally haven’t had any problems with it. Ohh and I drive my car everyday. smile.gif
