Default Re: some questions... bought some new stuff

I am having some type of problem with my suspension. A few weeks ago I hit some raised pavement doing about 45mph (no road construction signs). A couple of day after that a popping noise started coming from the front right of my car whenever I brake, accelerate from stop or hit a large bump. It is loud and you can feel it with you feet. It doesn't happen when I am cornering. I have taken the tire off and made sure everything was tight, all the bushing/dust covers look okay (I really don't know what I am looking for there). The strut makes a hissing/wheezing? noise when you push down on the right front, but no popping noise. Would a blown strut make a popping noise that could be felt? I have the Eibach springs and struts. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Thanks everyone.

Are your springs sitting properly in the strut and strut mounts???

Only thing I could think of right now,...

If it's "wheezing" that normally indicates a strut problem. I had it, swapped out shocks to KYB's and it's gone.

As for the popping, the tie rod sounds possible. Get it looked at. A popping sound can't be a good thing.

I checked on both sides and the springs are seated correctly. I rechecked all the bolts/nuts to make sure they were all tight, they looked okay. After I put everything back together there was no more popping when I was driving, I drove around for about 40 miles no problem. Then I went over some railroad tracks and the noise came back when I stop and accelerate, but it stopped when I hit the bumps. There seems to be no loss of handling or unusual vibrations. This is driving me crazy. My next step will be to check out the tie rod and wheel bearings. Thanks for the help everyone.

I wouldn't waste time with the bearings, those hum like a mother when they are going. Dweet sounds like he is having the same problem.

random over at HA.com said a while back that this was likely the high speed valving inside the strut that has gone bad.

Have you checked the sway-bar bushing?

I had a similar problem once with my last car... that's what it turned out to be... Just a thought.
