Has anyone been able to fix this problem off the steering wheel shaking?
I replied to a post on HP about this.
http://www3.hyundaiperformance.com/forums/...?t=50382#416046

I just had my rotors and pads, ss brake lines, installed a few weeks ago. and my new rims and tires installed last weekend.
after driving around on the weekend I notice a clunk or something like that from the right front of the car. it happens when the car comes to a complete stop or hitting a bump.
Steering shakes a little with my 15's, shook a lot with my 17's, now i have brand new 16's and they shake too. But the shaking comes and goes. Driving over 100kms/h it will be fine for a while then it will start to shake for a bit. I think it might be my front left strut going bad.

New parts:
Wheel Bearings
Rims + Tires
Hub centric rings
Rotors + Pads
Belts are new
Ball joints are good.
Alternator seems ok.
Stut bars front and rear.

that is what i am going to do next. I had it alinged last year after they installed the springs.
but what about the clunking? if i need new struts I may as well have them install them, then align everything.

i would say to get the car balanced because when i had to get a new tire put on, i was cheap and didnt get the car aligned and balanced, so when i got to around 90-100 kph the steering wheel would shake like a mother canucker, then i got the car balanced and it drove good as new... that could be your problem

mine started shaking when i got new rims (17's), we got it balanced and aligned, but it still shakes...usually from about 65 until 75mph. i'm used to it now though.

then they prolly did a half-ass job balancing the wheels.

being that mounting and balancing wheels is my job, what it sounds like is a poor balance.

Find out how they balanced it. if they have a Coats Computer Balancer, find it if they "static" balanced it. if they did...tell 'em to rebalance it on "Alloy 2" (it's a sticky weight on the outside portion of the rim (cannot be seen)). static balance isn't a true balance because they just stick a weight on the outside only and can result in a high speed vibration

and don't get "used to it." a poorly balanced tire can cause undesirable tire wear. it wears in blotches from the tire not hitting the road perfectly all around

it will also shake if your tires are unevenly worn, OR IF A WHEEL BEARING IS GOING BAD. thats what my problem was, it still shakes a tiny bit, but not bad. The wheel bearings SHOULD be covered by warranty. have someone check that too.

replacing struts, wheels, tires,.... would throw the allignment out the window

Redo that..

also... check if they balanced the wheels... THATS VERY IMPORTANT.

I have a set of KYB's, coming in 2 weeks, when they get installed they are doing an alingment as well.

I will update this post after everything is done.
