17 is the way to go with some 205/40/17 tires. It will not rub and you will be able to drop it nicely.

i guess it all depends though, I have 205/40/17s and they rub occasionally. What i would like, would be a 205/35/17 (but cn't find a 35 02.gif )

My car was on 17's, lowered 1.2" (eibach) for a while and it didn't look weird

However, when it was lowered with 16's, it sat pretty low to the ground and looked hot...

But don't get 16's and get a kit, cuz then you'll be a show-er, so you'll need 18's smile.gif.... or push the envelope, and your car, and go 19's smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

i just don't think they look that great, lowered on 17's without a kit...17's are NOT the way to go 16's would, but for style you'd probably want bigger rims, performance (in general takes less power to move a smaller wheel) you'd want smaller (unless you autox when you'd want a tire with less sidewall and wider track)....if i ever get money i'm gonna lower my car with the H&R springs on 15" gen 2 wheels....
