Default Racing Hart Help

OK i got a 2000 Tib and i want the 17" Racing Hart C2EVO rims. Does it matter alot what size tires i get. Is it going to throw off my speedometer alot, and can it be reprogramed to compensate. And would it be safe to get 18's?

You CAN get your speedo reprogramed, but getting the right sized wheel/tire combo is a LOT cheaper.

Use this to figure out what sizes work. Just enter the stock tire figures for Tire A, and the desired Tire dimentions in Tire B. Then keep playing with the numbers untill you find a combo that keeps your speedo fairly accurate up to 120 MPH (doubt if you'll have much occasion to go over that). http://www.c5-corvette.com/tirecalc.htm

Or use this one http://www.mindspring.com/~toy4two/tire.html

Some folks have 18"s. However the ride quality on 18" wheels is going to be fairly harsh, and the heavy weight of 18"s is going to slow you down.

If you decide to go with a tire/wheel size that puts your speedo off, just make sure you make a mental note of it. If you always know that when your speedo says 60, you are really doing 55, you'll be okay, but you will be racking up more miles on your Odometer than the car actually travels. Of course you could go the other way (55=60) and then your odometer would rack up less miles than you actually travel. (not that I would ever advocate such a practice!).
