when the bearing goes out do you have to/or best to replace the whole bearing/hub assembly or just the bearing alone?

bearing needs to be pressed into the hub. you can knock the old one out, but banging the new one in is not a good idea.

front or rear??

if its the rear, there is no pressing involved. you replace the entire bearing housing which is just a straight install.

the front does involve pressing.

you did ask. giving you instructions easily answered the question.

a hub isnt going to go bad. its just the bearing. i really dont have a clue why anyone would want to get a hub/bearing combo and replace theirs with it, seeing as you can only get that used and risk getting another shitty hyundai wheel bearing.

just replace the bearings.

as said for the rear, they dont sell just the bearings... its an entire unit......

believe me, i tried finding just the bearings themselves to replace. mainly cause the entire unit wasnt cheap. but no one offered just a bearing replacement, so i had to cave, and drop like $50 bux

Replace with Timkin Bearings as well. They have been used in the Military for years and have a lifetime warranty. I replaced ALL my bearings when I upgraded my suspension. Rears are a complete hub assembly as stated above, also made by Timkin. The fronts do need to be pressed on. You can tap them in by using the old races. Simply get the new race started, put the old one you pulled out on top of it and gently start taping the new race in. Make sure you pack the beaings as well wth High temp grease.

i thought you can buy a hub assembly and just replace that, as opposed to getting a shop to press one it. i spent like 180.00 usd on my last one from a shop because i dont have a press. so i thought its already in the hub assembly so its just taking the old one off and putting the new one on?
