Need Suggestions On New Tires
Ok, I'm bought some Yokohama YK520 recently and I don't like them. The reviews online were positive and they were actually the first ones suggested by the guy at the counter without me mentioning them so I went with them. The ride is smooth but they hold kinda crappy. Even my old worn down Nitto NT450s held a lot better. So, I need suggestions. I'm leaning towards going back to the 450s. I'll be replacing all 4.
I never go to the track. I don't take off hard. I'd like something that rides kind of smoothly. However, I do take corners a bit quickly and I drive in the rain(the little we do get) as if it weren't raining. We rarely get rain though so that's not a big factor here in Las Vegas. I have the stock rims and have no plans of changing so no worries on replacing them soon for new rims or anything.
Any suggestions? Maybe I'll go with the Nitto 450 again or...
I'm also looking at the Yokohama S.drive tires. They seem pretty good from everyone's responses to them. I guess I should have thought about the high treadwear number(520) on the Yokohama YK520.

I have the Nitto Neo Gens. They are fantastic. Got tire of the year from some Sport Compact mag. The Neo Gens also help if you have excessive camber wear from lowering your car. They have about 14k and look and hold the road extremely well. They honestly still look new. Thats my suggestion. fing02.gif
I had the Neogens mentioned but then noticed that they don't have a match for the stock size so I edited them out. The smallest Neogens go are 205/55-15 and I need 195/55-15 for my stock rims. I would have liked to add them to my list of options though. sad.gif
It's a $75 difference in the end price between the Yokohama Sdrive(costlier) and Nitto 450(cheaper) so I'm leaning towards the Nittos even more but I'm open to other options. Falken, Michelin... whatever else is out there.

They may still fit. Not sure if you have to go up in wheel width. You should ask. My buddy has an MR2 that he had them put some WIDE ASS tires on his stock rims. Definitely wider than stock. Looks cool as hell. Super meaty tires wrapped around 15 in rims. I did that to an old pulsar I had when I was a teenager. Tire shop said I could go up 3 sizes I think and they could still get it on the rim safely. So I went from a 155 to a 185 I believe.

BFGoodrich G-Force KDWs....not the Sport model. I had these on my Tib and I loved them. Never slipped in the rain AT ALL, and cornering was amazing.....plus...the tread looks cool. fing02.gif

I just got the HP4 716 put on my Mustang. Decent tire, low price.
I'd suggest the Kumho Solus KR21. Excellent reviews on tirerack and cheaper than HP4. I tried to get them, but they didn't have them in stock and I needed tires ASAP, so they gave me the HP4 at the KR21 price ($25/tire savings).
Tirerack Link - Kumho Solus KR21
They have 195/60/15 at $50 each.
Tirerack Link - Kumho HP4 PLUS
195/55/15 at $74 each
Tirerack Link - Kumho HP4 716
195/55/15 at $76 each.
and tire rack doesn't show the KDW coming in a 15" rim.

I have the General Exclaim UHP, and absolutely love them!! They hold really well in the rain and handle amazingly well. Really quite, and no noticeable treadwear after about 10K miles. Best part is, they're like
Moo - go to Discount Tire. They'll match anybody's price. I called and gave them the price found on TireRack, and they matched it - I also didn't have to pay shipping. They charged $12 to mount/balance per wheel. Free rotate/balance every 6,000 miles. Can't go wrong with DicountTire. (www.tires.com)
