Default low-profile lug wrench?

so the other day i took one of my superleggeras off to see if i needed a hubcentric ring. i used the stock lug wrench, and the socket end was so large/thick, it made marks on the f**king rim. flaming_ are there lug wrenches out there that have thin socket ends? or should i just get a 1/2" drive socket to fit the lug. i'm assuming that trying to torque the lugs on with a 1/4" drive socket/ratchet might break the ratchet.

So you used the stock lug wrench with aftermarket lugz?

hmmm....my lugz came with a tool to use with a ratchet...actually the stock wrench won't even work on mine...I used a torque wrench and the "bit" that came with the lugz.

You should have tuner-style lugs for rims like that. They give you an adapter with it, so you crank the lugnut from the inside of the lug, protecting the wheel.

EDIT: here's a pic

Only problem I have with those style lug nuts is that they have a tendancy to crack. Especially if some yahoo at a tire store torques your wheels down to 90000 Ft Lbs with an air wrench.

Buy a proper sized socket and breaker bar (3' to 4' long) and you shouldn't have that problem again. Stock lugs are 21mm or 19mm (depending on which lug you have).

these are the lugs i got from the jokers at wheelmax (they didn't want them returned with the defective wheels, so i kept them.) though, i don't think they look as good as the one above, so i have ones like the above on my car now.

i haven't seen a special wrench, but i also have scratched my rims in the lug holes tightening them (even by hand).

luckily my rims have a centercap that convers up the place where they would get scratched up using a wrench, but i foudn that a good crafstman socket is abotu as thin as u should need assuming u got the right kind of lugs
