How hard is it lowering your own car?
Im not exactly the most mechanicly inclined and I have just the basic hand tools. No air compressor or air tools. Ive never done any major work on my car that involves using alot of tools. I usually just take the car to the mechanics when something goes wrong with it. I want to start getting more hands on with my car and Im about to order a set of lowering springs and struts. For someone with my background who has literally never done anything like that before, how bad will it be for me if I try to install the new suspension? I think Im more afraid of taking something apart and then not being able to put it back together properly. That would mean I would have to call a tow truck and have it towed to a shop to be fixed. huh.gif
It's really not that hard. I was in your position(hadn't done much other than an intake and changing the plugs/wires and no air tools), the hardest part was getting the lower strut bolts loose due to rust. But if your car doesn't have much rust it'll be a lot easier. The only special tool you'll really need is the spring compressor which you can rent from an auto parts store usually.

It's pretty easy. Everything is pretty simple and straightforward. Pay attention to how the washers, spacers, bushings, etc. go together and you should be fine.
i actually just finished mine today not too long ago. took me about 4 hours for the entire dismantle and reinstall of all struts and springs. i did it all with a short handle ratchet (it sucked lol) a jack and some jack stands. and obviously the spring compressors. its seriously not that hard at all. just tedious.
