Default Getting the right wheels -- And thoughts on Motegi Wheels

I looked upon a cool website that featured both American Canadian prices for wheels and tires
(www.1010tires.com). When I did a search for wheels for the Tiburon, it said it offered would fit. And yet, when I look at the massive selection of very affordable an expensive wheels, I see some models that SHOULD fit them. Among these brands are Motegi wheels. Now I looked at them before, they seems a very good choice. I remembered reading the Tiburon takes a 4/114.3 bolt pattern which the MR12 Motegi have. So why dooes the website say no wheels it has fits. Is this an error? Will these MR12s fit the Tiburon? Any body like or hate these wheels?

Chances are the rims may be built with a different offset that won't fit a Tib correctly.

But someone mentioned that the Tibby has a 4/1114 bolt pattern...Motegi say the MR12 are that....I'm just a little confused.

Continuing this, I checked out on Discounttire.com and all the wheels that they fit for the Tiburon were a 4/114 bolt pattern with a 35mm to 40mm offset...now the Motegi's also claim to be this. So, rightfully, these wheels should fit our cars...right. You see, the site I found these on, 1010tires.com is Canadian site and the prices are impossible to resist...

Here is the replyt I got from 1010Tires:

"Here is the problem. The Hyundai's have bolts on the hub (between the wheel studs). These bolts interefere with many aftermarket wheels. You need to find a wheel that has special recesses cut out of the wheel to accomodate these bolts. Unfortunately the Motegi is not one of these wheels. That's why the wheel wizard probably doesn't come up with any wheels for you car."
Well this really sucks...then that means not a single wheel on this site fits. Thats kind of hard to belive. Is there no way around this?

Does this answer your question?

They are referring to the early model Tiburons that have a nut between the studs that can be removed. They obviously don't know what they are talking about.

its funny you should say that. They just sent me an email right after I posed the last message...

"I've had a lot of people looking for wheels for Hyundai's in the last few days.

"Almost all the Hyundai's have the same problem. They have a retaining bolt that sits on the hub of the vehicle (between the wheel studs). When choosing an aftermarket wheel, you need to find a wheel that has special recesses cut into it to accommodate these bolts. If the wheel does not have these
recesses, the wheel can not sit flush on the hub. Unfortunately the Motegi Racing line of wheels do not have this accommodation.

"There might be good news, however. As I was writing this, I phoned to see about another wheel in this style and I was told that on the newer Tiburon's, these bolts are useless and can actually be removed without causing any problems. I would recommend going to see your dealer and asking them if these bolts can be removed. If they can, then you are set and you
can get the Motegi's that you want!"

So...any comments on that? True?
