i think they're both really the same, but the eibach struts were designed to go with the springs as a set. the KYB GR2 are designed as a oem replacement or aftermarket. i've been in odessitpashka's tiburon and it was a good ride, pretty much the same as my eibachs. i got my eibach from ebay qualifiedjapaneseparts. probably totalled around $600 for 4 springs and 4 struts shipped. i checked from shox.com and it totalled up to like $30 cheaper at shox.com but with a waiting period. so i ordered from ebay. it's the cheapest i could find. i also got eibachs because i used to be a hardcore rally fan.

the eibach kit is pretty neat, the car sticks to the road very well on the highway. feels like a tiburon should feel.

if you don't want to spend a lot of money, just go with eibach springs and KYB's.

Damn.
Thanks, I searched for like 2 hours online and couldn't come up with deals like that. How do you do it? LOL.

It's easy. You find the part number by looking up on google for the MFR first, or just something simple like...

tiburon agx strut

Then when you have the part number, you do a FROOGLE search for it, and if nothing, do a google search for it.

And ebay. Easy.

what is better about the agx's than the gr2's? i don't autox or race or anything, so it would be primarily for street driving.
i've read on some reviews that after about a year they lose their adjustability..

so, are agx's basically adjustable gr2's? i don't want to pay money for the adjustability factor, i could really care less, i don't race enough to.

No. The AGX's are built for performance. The GR2's are just replacements for the stock ones when they wear out on grandma's car. They are heavy duty, and the adjustability definitely means that you can go change the feel of your ride at a moments notice for race day, or smoother for day to day driving.

If you have a deep pocket, go with Eibach Set, but if you don't, go with GR2's.

Eibach might be better in everything since it's much more expensive, but GR2's are great too especially when it comes to the value for $$$.

BTW, GR2's are way better than OEM struts. why not spend less and get you a couple hundreds worth of anything for yourself or your car. cool.gif

Still don't see that Nate. They are no better than the OEM struts at all. Hence why they are called OEM REPLACEMENTS even by the company. That's the GR2 line, OEM Replacement struts.

The Eibachs aren't that expensive, and if you are going to do the modification to your car, then do it right. If I keep my RD1, I'm putting the AGX's on it, or putting my eibachs on the RD1, selling or throwing away the GR2's, and putting the AGX's on my RD2.

^^+1 if u dont have the ability to do the mod right then dont do it at all. get the AGX's or save and get the eibachs. dont waste the money on a oem replacement when u can spend maybe 100 more and get the right part for the job.

you might daily drive the tib, but lets be honest here. i mean wit the mods you've done to your car you probably do need an actual preformance damper. i know u didnt do all those mods to drive the car like a buick. cool.gif

I agree on "IF you have the money go with AGXs"; what I don't agree is that GR2 are just the same as OEM dampers just because they are sold as "OEM replacements"; I have tested them both OEM and GR2 and THEY ARE NOT THE SAME, NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Besides, I remember haveing read that someone published the ratios of the GR2 compared to the OEM on HA.com back in it's days... it's a shame I don't have that info at hand, but I remember it was like this: Compression ratio is 30% harder on GR2s and the expansion ratio 100% stronger than OEM; and I think there is were the difference is; because you actually feel the car different, you can tell the tires are more in the road, they don't float as much as with the OEMs. I mean, it's not that much of a deal in sportiness, it is still in the STD dampers territory, but GR2s are MUCH BETTER THAN OEM.
And again, I know this thread is about choosing AGXs or Eibachs vs. GR2s, but I don't want newbs or other folks to read this thread and get the impression that GR2s are not noticeable better than OEMs.

Meh, everyone is going to have their own opinions on it. I've currently got both GR2's and Eibach's on my 2 tibs. I've been in numerous tibs with both of them. The GR2's always have felt like moderately worn OEM struts to me.

lol i think the point here is if your going to cheap out and not buy eibachs that you should get the AGX's because they are an actual preformance damper.

its rediculous to sit here and try to compare a stock part to a preformance part. either buy the preformance or buy the stock but dont sit here and try to say that the OEM is preformance at all.

gr-2 is definitely past OEM but i've seen the precision of eibach and personally i'd go with that just because you will be the most happy. if i had the gr-2's sure it would be nearly the same and do a similar job but i wouldn't be completely happy knowing i've got the best strut you can get.

kyb advertises in summitracing, and they've been around for a really long time! struts are struts though it's the springs and compression you guys should be arguing about haha.
