You're saying something is wrong with them. A spring belongs COMPRESSED between the upper strut assy and the perch. It should not require modification. The springs should rest on the stock perch and strut assy.

not with sleeve coilovers. it has its own perch that it rests on, which is just a locking collar on the threaded body of the coilover. under hard driving, that body can move around and rotate on the stock spring perch, which is just an invitation for problems. you get that coilover body welded to the strut and you get rid of that.

so you're saying that they didn't even bother making it to fit our vehical? It just sits where it wants based on the diameter of the sleeve and the shape of the perch?

well sorta, but im sure it was designed for our cars with a proper size. the thing is, with a normal spring it can rotate in the strut body without any ill affects. this thing rotates and it could cause it to adjust itself. think about the spring holding the top collar in one place, with the sleeve rotating in another direction. that will unlock those two locking collars and then things will move.

id really like to see how they would weld an aluminum coller to a steel strut?

well, they should have a stainless steel insert within the sleeve.
