Eating Up Wheel Bearings
Well guys I finally figured out why I am eating up wheel bearings. The center part of the spindle which has the wheel flange and lug studs has about a 1 inch groove cut into it. This allows that center part to wiggle even when a new bearing is pressed in. This in turn starts shaking the bearing apart. Apparently the shop I had been taking it to didn't bother to tell me about that for what I imagine was repeat business. Obviously I have found a better machine shop and he showed me the problem. The only resolution is to buy new center hubs. Does anyone know where I can get those besides the dealer...and for any of you guys who work at a Hyundai dealer, could you check and see if you can order that piece and how much it is. I've found a Tib in a junkyard and they want $75 each for the entire spindle but there's no guarantee that it won't be just as screwed up as the ones I have so I'd rather buy a new one if I can.

87 bucks for a new one.
Rock Auto.com only has rear hubs...may want to call them to see if they just dont have the front ones listed as they are pretty decent price as well.

does anyone have a DIY on how to do a wheel bearing, my wheel bearing needs to be fixed and ive never done one before. wondering if i should jsut pay someone to do this and avoid any hassle lol.
There is a write up on here with pics. Don't know where right off, search for wheel bearing. It isn't easy to change the bearing though cause it is pressed in. What you can do is take off the whole spindle and take it to a machine shop to have them press the bearing in for you. That'll only cost you $50-60 plus $25 for the bearing. I can only imagine what a shop would charge to do the whole thing...
we never really had a 100% good DIY for wheel bearings. I know a few members have asked for them. We had a so so DIY with a pic or 2 but wasn't very helpful. Web tech didn't really help out much either. I guess this could be a plea for someone to do one with real pics and good explanations. The DIY that was mentioned above is in the DIY section.
