Has anyone else had problems with their e brake cables freezing up? Its been on a running thread on elantra xd. just curious if anyone over here has had the same problem with their rd2 that I have. It causes the caliper to freeze and lock the wheel up. anyone have a quick fix suggestion or shuold I just replace the cables?

I haven't had any issue with the actual cable but when it's cold the lever on the rear left caliper sticks.

chances are if you live a little bit north, you will have this happen to you. if you look on the parking brake cable by the calipers, you can see a little rubber boot that is supposed to keep moisture out of the cable. more than likely, its ripped, allowing moisture to get in and then freeze when everything is cooled down.

i dont know the part number off hand, and couldnt find it in the parts listing in the DIY. might want to check with your dealer.
