Default Check that spare!

Decided to check my spare tire this weekend because I had to do an oil change and spark plug change. I have never used my spare, let alone ever taken it out of the car. Its the OEM spare which means its about 14 years old. The thing was rotted out and in no condition to be driven on. Had I been stranded somewhere, this would not have worked out so well for me. I have 17" wheels on my car but in an emergency, if a front tire was flat I would have taken one of the rear wheels off for the front and used the 15" donut in the back to at least get me to a shop temporarily to get a new 17" tire. So word of advice, check your spare if you still have it and make sure its in good condition in case of an emergency.
