Hi, I have Tiburon from end of 1997, and I have Captive brakes!

Please can you describe what is better, what is the diference, bearing?!?, does can noncaptive brake better then captive? Please if can someone explain me from A-Z what is what! I don`t know the diference except 4 big bolts or 2 small sad.gif

Non-captive rotors are better because they are easier to work with: you don't need a press to swap out bearings & it's also 100x easier to swap rotors over to aftermarket ones that are slotted, dimpled, drilled or whatever.

They're also better because they allow you to use pretty much any 4x114.3 rim whereas the captive bolts mean that only certain rims are suitable straight from the manufacturer or, in most cases, you'll have to drill out the back of your brand new rims, potentially weakening the rim &/or throwing it out of balance if not done right.

I swapped my captive brakes to non-captive ones ages ago. I got whole wheel hub assemblies off a Lantra in a junkyard for $50AU a side & then just swapped them over myself. Well worth it in my opinion fing02.gif
