DO NOT CUT YOUR ROTORS!!!
You're not fixing the problem, just the symptom.

If the brake pads are fairly new, no problems with the actual braking, AND they sqeek. It's the SHIMS
The OEM ones (and GOOD aftermarket ones) come with them, on the back of the pad, cheapy ones do not. What pads did you get?

 

shims are just a bandaid approach too. My hawk pads did not come with shims and I am not running the stock ones.. no squeaks. Same with my old EBC green stuff. No shims, no squeaks.

I would definatly try the stuff you put on the backs of the pads... but other than redoing your brakes compleatly, I do not know what to tell you. Did you at least have the rotors taken off and turned when you redid the pads?

 

If they are semi-metalic pads they will squeak slightly throughout their life due to the type of pads. My ex-gf's daewoo has semi-metalic pads on it and they always squeak slightly. Kind of ironic I have the same axxis semi-metalic pads on the rear and they dont squeak at all

 

the rotors have been changed together with the pads last year. Today I took the wheel off my car and I saw that there are this shims. and there are I think abou 8mm of the pad remaining. I tried to get the caliper off the car like it is descriped on the webtech homepage. I wasn't able to loose the lower screw. I am afraid to damage the screw if I use to much force. Do you have removed your calipers? How did you manage to get this screws out?

I have taken mine off a few times. Used an impact wrench, screw that manual using a wrench stuff smile.gif

 

just be careful if you do get it off. The caliper bracket is cast steel.. it strips easily if you cross thread (don't ask)

 

im having the same problem my front left tire is squeeking really loud sometimes so generally how much are nice pads that dont squeak there entire life, how much would they cost?

 

Honestly I think it's the pads. Most of the cheapo pads are made of a tougher material that's supposed to last longer and normally don't have a slot cut in them, both of which produce brake squeal IMO.

Mad's Hawk pads, if I'm not mistaken, are made out of a slightly softer material that is to bite down on the rotor a bit better than harder pads.

That's just what I'm thinkin'.
