my friend has a 94 pontiac sunbird...
he said his alternator was bad, but i told him i didn't think that would be his problem. so we jump started the car, then while it was running and jumper cables disconnected, we removed both battery cables. the car stayed running..
then he says, "yeah but watch this"
he flipped on his headlights
and the engine died instantly..
wtf?
he says that when driving at night with the headlights on if you do it for too long eventually the lights will dim, the gauges will go all crazy, and the car will just die and then not start again.
any thoughts?

Hmm.. weird.
ok.
well i suppose i'll be helping him change it out soon then.
god they are so easy to get to in that car, you could probably do it in 10 minutes.

Spark plugs need power to fire, no power = no spark = no running engine
Although it doesn't take like loads of amps to fire spark plugs you could have trouble when loading the battery too much
my 2 cents
