the way i understand it is the type-S, which this is a knock off of, patent is expired and thats why all the chinese ones popped up.. same reason that greddy now has the RZ instead of the RS, because the RS design was copied before it was patented and there wasn't much they could do about it.

expired patent = free for all, and if it works the same, and is 20% of the price, i say, why the hell not. greddy also doesn't make the Type S at all anymore, so theres no way to get a 'real' one even if anyone wanted to.

Something you should read about the eBay Type-S...

Not the first time I've heard it.

Besides, you're still supporting an industry that does ignore patents on a regular basis, even if the patent on this one has expired (which I doubt). Safest thing is to simply not purchase anything made in China and especially not any automotive stuff. You're free to use whatever you want in your kit, just keep in mind that there are a growing number of folks like me who wouldn't buy any FMIC kit that included a knock-off BOV.

Your safety wire starts out at a neutral position, should have got a crew chief to do it. wink1.gif Those brakes look sweet!

It makes sure no bolts can back out. You set it up so if one backs out, it tightens another. Very nice (and safe) on brakes. People use it for turbos also and other things.

Did the brakes come with the bolts with holes in the head for safety wire or did you do it some other way?

yeah.. all the rotor 'hat' bolts came with holes in them, and so did the caliper bracket bolts.

Good, thats how it should be.

For anyone that wants to do this to anything on their cars you can buy bolts online in stainless that have holes through the head for this purpose.

after buying this kit, it seems like it wouldn't be TOO hard to adapt this to an RD as long as you could somehow make a caliper bracket, plus the kit was fairly cheap..

670$ to my door including the D/S rotors, 4-piston calipers, SS teflon coated brake lines, install kit, and pads.

it was 100$ less with standard smooth rotors

obviously would need a different (4x114.3) rotor hat though.
