yeah suck for them! He resigned suddenly, it came as a shock to hyundai because they had no idea. He starts work at Benz tomorrow literally no joke. I'd say its a classic case of Merc getting scared, offering Piaskowski more $$, him turning to the dark side.

But come to think of it, none of Piaskowskis designs are really all that great. HCD 8 - 10 were pure ugly. The Genesis isn't Giugiaro (look it up ;b) and the guy designed GM before Hyun. I think whatever is coming Hyundais way including the facelifts will be ultimate bikini thong without Piaskowski in charge!! I personally didn't like him, and if he got bought out that easily, he's nothing more than a dirty old hoe on the corner of 16th on a Friday evening.

Also proud this entire Genesis ordeal is made possible by John Krafcik VP product development, Joel Piaskowski chief designer, and David Zuchowski chief of sales, all three Polish-Americans.

Krafcik is now the acting President and CEO and unfortunately Joel Resigned from Hyundai a few weeks ago only to join Mercedes. Kind of bummed about the latter.

i'm really hoping that the next mag that publishes something about rhys's car will actually post a nice big picture of the engine bay. they really didnt get into horsepower numbers or anything else persay in that article.

Not to mention the fact that those pics are the same exact ones i have looked at now for the past four months. but all in all, at least we are getting some publicity.

Here are some you've probably not seen before. We took these while visiting Rhys' shop last September.

the rest can be found here:

and some more teasers pics of the Coupe...

^^^ thanks for the bigger pix. im guessing he is using the oem manifold cause of time constraints but i bet they have remedied that by now and built a better turbo manifold.

Yeah when I talked with Rhys and his shop manager at SEMA one of the issues was time in getting the car ready. They wanted this car to be drivable versus it being pushed in to the exhibit booth like many of the other cars there. As such they did not want to tear the engine apart too much because if something went wrong they would have a difficult time getting replacement parts, things like gaskets, which would be impossible to get here in the states.

So by the time SEMA came around they had a running car, were able to do a short video/photo shoot and drive the car. If RMR can get the sponsorship backing from Hyundai we may see it run a few Time Attacks and even better see it campaigned in the Formula Drifts for next year.

On that note if you guys are interested sign the online petition we started:
http://www.petitiononline.com/gfrmr1/petition.html

Here is a link to the Rhys Millen Video of how the car was built:

The article in Modified Magazine, which was this months issue, said they still haven't touched the engine yet but are planning on it Lee.

They put no pics of the engine bay but said the same stuff Henry said. They have plans for it, it just feels like if they aren't going to get a sponsorship from Hyundai to run it later, they aren't going to put more engine work into it.

That's just how it feels.

Awesome I didn't realize you guys had already seen the petition. That's what I love about the Hyundai community, they seem to help out more than any other I've been involved with.

Even if Hyundai does not back RMR they will be supporting the vehicle. They plan on having a range of aftermarket parts and body kits for the Coupe. They already have an aftermarket turbo kit mostly developed.

What's interesting and something that many people don't realize is that for every dollar that Hyundai put into the RMR car, they put in two. They were and still are devoted to this car. My personal feelings is that they wouldn't do this unless they felt they had a good shot at somekind of relationship with Hyundai in racing. I think we'll hear more in the future.

My contact at Hyundai Canada informed me that there will be AT LEAST 3 Coupes at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. When I last spoke with him, they weren't sure if they would be on turntables and out of reach from the public. He said he took one for a drive locally and LOVED IT.
