<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CyberShark)</div><div class='quotemain'>The only Pontiac I would even think of owning is the GTO..</div>

Ewww.. they look like V8 Cavaliers or something. Too importy of a look for a muscie car heritage GTO. New GTO = gay. If you want a Pontiac, you must get a manual Fire Chicken.

CyberShark 02-18-2005 10:49 PM

I said it would be the only Pontiac I would think about getting, only cause it's quick for a big car...didn't say I would buy it..wink1.gif..I really don't like Pontiacs at all..I've had a very rare B4C 25th Anniversary Z28 and a Ford 5.0 but I don't see myself in any Pontiac..

iamcyclopseatme 02-19-2005 02:40 AM

They arent screwing up the boards, they are posting in their area of knowledge.. They arent going all over the boards and posting tibs suck, domestics rule.. They are commenting on their area of expertise in the CORRECT thread to do so..

Quit being so ignorant and open your eyes.. Theres more to the world than just tiburons and if a board member is interested in getting rid of his and wants some input, give it to him rather than be what you all try to get rid of and try not to be.. TROLLS..

So please, just go ahead and ban all the people who are trying to give some insight into this topic.. Let the people who dont have a clue, who just think every other car sucks, put their worthless opinions into this topic and get nowhere on it..

Longwinded reply. . .

My grandparents bought an '04 GP last Fall, and I drove it for two weeks over Christmas. I'd classify it as a sports car for the elderly (and it is a popular model at the retirement home beside my house wink1.gif ). It's huge, but it does handle pretty nicely, although it still drives a bit like a boat, but has plenty of power. The console and gauge layout is very nice. Good cupholders (something sorely lacking in my tib). I might consider driving one. . .if I was married and had kids. It's dead silent on the highway, no road noise.

Go for it Kit, the thought of you being unleashed on Pontiac boards makes me smile.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (iamcyclopseatme)</div><div class='quotemain'>American cars are behind in times? How so? Do some research.. American cars are much more advanced than imports..

You might think "oh import engines are far ahead".. Think again.. Google.com does wonders for the claim to fame 4 cylinder import engine, or lack there of...</div>

What's an American car? Seriously, what's your definition. Designed in America, built in America? Or built in another country with American parts? How about designed in another country but built here, by American workers mostly with parts made here? Is that an American car?

Chrysler, Mercury, Ford and Dodge are just a few who are using Japanese four cylinder engines in their cars.

Much more advanced than imports? You don't really believe that do you? Advanced in what? Technology incorporated, manufacturing methods? Considering how many manufacturers are in bed with each other, they're all on a similar level. But the Japanese engine is still king. Take a look at reliability figures from Consumer Reports. Year after year, the best reliable cars are Acura/Honda, Infiniti/Nissan, and Toyota/Lexus, with a few models from Subaru, Mazda, BMW, Saab, and Hyundai making it in. What "American" cars grace the list? The Ford Escort and Geo/Chevy Prizm. Guess what engines those two use.

The worst cars for reliability are almost the exclusive domain of American manufacturers: Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Lincon, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac, with Volkswagen usually present too.

When it comes to four cylinder engines, I think American cars are inferior to foreign. You can make a strong case for six cylinder too. It's already difficult to even define what a foreign/domestic car is, but I think you would have a hard time arguing that American engines are currently better than foreign. Detroit doesn't have the stringent manufacturing tolerances that Japan does. Look at a properly-maintained Japanese engine with 100,000 miles on it, there's no wear and little lost compression. Japan has longer life in mind, whereas we build for the lowest possible price.
