No FWD mustang, ever... The probe was expected to replace the Mustang, but then someone realized FWD sucks at ford and they kept the mustang around. Good call FoMoCo

damn, i thought there was a foxbody FWD variant... but i guess not. maybe im thinking of an escort.

i see plenty design cues on the GK that come from the mustang. flip the side gills and body line horizontally 180 degrees on a GK, and it would look alot like the stang. its as if the koreans wanted to slap the face of american design... sure we all know its very ferrari-ish... but that cougar? maybe design placement of objects, but theres not one line on that car that matches a GK. that cougar looks like something out of Demoltion Man...

I was trying to combine something from Ford with something to make it look GKish. I dont see mustang at all in the tib.

Mustang did have a 4cyl, but it sent power to the back wheels.

"The Ford Probe was a coupe produced by Ford, introduced in 1989 to replace the Ford EXP as the company's sport compact car. The Probe was fully based on the Mazda G-platform using unique sheetmetal and interior. The instrument cluster and pop-up headlight mechanisms are borrowed from the FC RX-7. While it was sold worldwide as a sporty coupe, the Probe was intended to fill the market niche formerly occupied by the Capri in Europe, and although it was intended as the replacement to the Ford EXP, it was also considered a possible replacement for the Ford Mustang in the North American market as a direct competitor with the Acura Integra and the Toyota Celica. During that time, Ford's marketing team had deemed that a front-wheel drive platform (borrowed Mazda GD and GE platforms) would have lower costs for production, and also because the platform had been gaining popularity with the consumers. Mustang fans objected to the front-wheel drive configuration, Japanese engineering, and lack of a V8, so Ford began work on a new design for the Mustang instead. With US sales numbers dropping from 30,079 in 1996 to only 16,777 in 1997, the decision to stop producing the Probe was made due to it being the worst selling Ford vehicle of that year."

told to me by wikipedia.. who wrote it? Possible owner of an 8 sec mustang, but I cannot confirm that.

On topic:

thanks ! when he bought her, i urged him to buy stock front and rear bumpers as the previous owner had put on a real edgy body kit, kind of like a concepto kit. i think the original design is so much nicer than any body kit available for the SN95 and holds more respect as it is a true SVT Cobra convertible. they had made a lip kit, but its hard to find. i mean if this car was not an SVT Cobra, sure a body kit would be respectable. but being a limited production car, it might hold more value with a stock look to it.

but then again the whole car has been worked over. complete coil over kit. sway bars. poly bushings, tubular K member, adjustable bump steer, fully adjustable camber in the front, AGX adjustable shocks. its not a total track day beast, but its far from a stock car.

i took my Virginia license road test in her too! the proctor really liked it. even though it was like riding in a go kart with no suspension.... so glad he didnt have a cup of coffee with him. LOL

Thanks! Yea the previous owners did the exterior wrong w/ the kit and lights. I went back to stock body, Depo headlights and Raxiom smoked tails. The tails are on trial right now as for how they hold up. They look 10x better than the shits thats were previously on and I like the smoked vs stock. Quality on them is very good, so now I'm looking at durability which I will find out in time, probably soon cause she sleeps in the driveway and not the garage, so we'll see how they hold up to the elements. About 7 months, so far so good.
