So here it is. 89 Nissan 240sx KA24DE, automatic, best model with HUD and all that crap. It has a full exhaust, headers, intake, brembo brakes, everything. My buddy is going to sell it to me for 800$ to get rid of it. His plans were to do an LS1 swap but he bought a very fast bike and doesn't care about cars now.

Problem! The cars turns on, runs, and idles fine. No CEL. When you hit the gas pedal or play with the accelerator pulley on the throttle body, the car does not rev or even slightly raise RPM's. I've talked to a number of people about it and from what I've gathered, it can say that it is....

-Fuel Injector/Pressure Reg/Fuel issue
-ECU is fux0red
-Timing belt jumped and the timing is off. Problem with this is ITS A TIMING CHAIN!

And if I get it, it will be a SR20DET Swapped beast. Mainly a winter beater as is though.

I'm a noob but maybe take off the intake piping around the TB and see if the butterfly valve is actually moving when the throttle is adjusted?

I haven't toyed with the car yet myself. I will ask him if the butterfly moves though. I'm pretty sure it does. Which means the air is getting in but it's still not running right. Which would mean an air/fuel problem. Too much air, no gas, means lean as shit.

If there's not enough fuel that could mean...
-Injector(s)
-Fuel Filter
-Fuel Pump
-Fuel lines
-Pump strainer
-Fuel Pressure Regulator
-Fuel Rail
-ECU Condition

But what I don't understand is if there is not enough fuel, how is it running and idling smoothly? It's obviously not the TPS, that would just make a crap idle and bad response. It's not a vacuum leak, again, it would run like shit. Even if there was a dead cylinder it would accelerate, just run like shit. I wonder if it even idles when in drive? I have to talk to the kid more...

Any more ideas?

its a 5 speed, its black, with i think black int. no idea on the mileage. he bought the car for 2500 a bit over a year ago, then got busted with a DUI, which he got a huge fine for, so he needs to pay back his dad for bailing him out. since he has a beater truck not worth much, hes trying to sell the 240 since he could get more out of it, and its obviousely an easier sell being that newer body style.
