Well I am working on the car right now, trying to get it into better shape so I figured I would start with the rotors and brakes

just redo them first and then work on everything else down the road. Well I just got done doing the passenger side, when I

went to do the driver side I cant break the bolts for nothing! So im just wondering am I turning them the right direction? I

know left is usually lose but on the car its always weird lol. The passanger side was clockwise to loosen the bolts (view was

looking at it from the passenger side of the car right at the wheel) thoughts?

 

no matter what car it is, it always lefty loosey, righty tighty...

get some PB blaster and soak them bastards for about three hours, should do the trick.

 

For brake bolts, ya should be the same as any. Some penetrant and heat will be your best friends here.

There are certain things that will have left hand thread. Some fan clutches, evap test ports, etc. But thats not the case here.

 

funny that you mention this, friday was doing the rotors with a friend on his 02 Grand Am, had the same problem. we couldnt get them off for anything, so we took a torch to them and then they came off real easy

turned out there was locktite on them and it just needed to be melted so we could get them off, try that and see what happens.

 

Torch is the best tool for older brakes. And exhaust.

 

I just thought it was weird because from the passenger side I had to turn the bolt to the right to loosen it and not to the left..

 

You talking about the caliper bolts or lug nuts? If you mean caliper bolts, yes you turned to the right. That's because the bolt isn't facing you, it's facing the driver's side. Righty-tighty, Lefty-loosey is if you're looking at the head of the bolt. On the passenger's side, you turn the wrench towards the front of the car when the handle is at 12 o'clock. On the driver's side, you turn towards the rear. Basically, you need to go the opposite direction from what you did to loosen the lug nuts.

 

ok that makes sense, damn wish I was a left handed person haha
