My PC is obviously back up, so I'll get the pics up soon.

The interior lighting just blows my mind, and how smooth it drives.

I may pick one up when we pay off the Sorento.

I'm starting to like the Auto more, as long as I shift it into 2nd when I am at a red light.

BTW, I have the car for like 15 more days.

Not a bad idea.

What I keep wanting to know is how much HP does your Power Steering take off of the engine?

I'd love to convert to this drive by wire system, then take the Power Steering off.

^^^
who said it's drive by wire?

Drive by wire - it's when steering wheel and wheels are not connected mechanically.

In new Elantra you have steering column with electric motor on it, that just helps you tu turn it.

It consumps less hp than power steering with oil pump. Oil pump works all the time, electic motor works only when needed.

On lot's of new small cars manufactures use EPS (electric power steering) to lower fuel consumption.

I did. Wire = electricity, hence electric motor.

LOL

I'm still wondering how much of a power gain that is...

I bet no more than 5-7 hp.

drive by wire = no electricity - you are 0wnd (can't turn)
EPS = no electricity - no power steering

Actually, horsepower gains are minimal, 1 -2 hp max. That's not why they switched. The real reason is fuel economy.

Have you seen the EPA ratings for the Beta engine? Jumped to frikkin 28/36mpg highway - thats nearly as good as the Japanese powertrains. Ofcourse, they used friction reduction techniques, airflow optimizations etc. to get there, but reducing the drag of a powersteering hydraulic pump was a pretty big piece of the puzzle.

Next step, replacing a hydraulic water pump with an 'on-demand' electric pump. BMW already pioneered this technology and I believe it's present in the next M3.

Thanks to all the gas guzzlers and morons who drive without a Catalytic converter, automakers are forced to make technological advances to minimize the impacts of dwindling oil supplies and massive rising pollution.
