i've been using that even when i was NA
i didn't want to have the 2 extra couplings on each side of the maf for a cleaner look

outside of the MAF is 2.750"
inside of the maf is about 2.375" wich is about the same internal size of most 2.5" aluminium pipes

i guess i could weld an adaptor on a piece of pipe, but you would still be stuck with a coupling on each sides, ruining the "cleaner" look

what's your idea? just so i can figure out what could be done

Well I am already using couplers and don't want to change the rest, so would rather still use couplers. Just looking for something stronger so i can clamp it as hard as i want (I'm afraid i'll crack the stock MAF if i tighten the clamps it too hard). Plus I'd use straight couplers instead of the 2.5-to-2.75 reducers. I'm guessing that's Supercow's reasoning as well

Radu,
i understand your point
in your case an easy way would be simply to use regular worm type clamps and spray some hair spray inside the couplings before putting it on the maf (this stuff does stick more then you think) just don't let the GF find out what you're using her stuff for ;-)

i'll check what i can do

Haha, thanks for the tip!

I have already converted the entire house in a workshop, going through her stuff for misc automotive purposes will be the last straw! lol

I was just thinking that my maf got a little melted so I thought I might as well take this opportunity to upgrade rather than getting another plastic one. fing02.gif

why not make a 3" one? arent aem cai's 3"?

radu_rd2 05-19-2009 08:39 PM

We turbo guys don't need 3" tongue.gif

And having the same internal diameter ensures the MAF reading is not changed

Denisst99 05-19-2009 09:31 PM

when i was running NA i did run a 3" tube, worked quite well, but i was cheating it a bit with the smt-6
but, alone i would say it worked "ok" but didn't try it much

so how much denis! wink1.gif if you can do it let us know so I can get it ordered! thanks!

Denisst99 05-22-2009 11:11 PM

i'm tied up on 2 projects right now,
once those are out of the shop i'll look at what can be done for size and all that stuff
