on the end of the channel for the spark plug cover, by the oil fill neck, there is a bolt hole. I didn't see that bolt hole when I went to pull the cover off.
I looked from the top and couldn't see the crack.
Looking from the inside, it's a hairline that goes around the bolt hole and maybe another 1" or so after that. Flexing it as hard as I felt reasonable opened it maybe 1/16".
Looking for my memory card reader, I'll upload a pic if I can find that thing.
J/Y covers require finding and removing. Plus maybe cleaning. For about the same price as getting one here, shipped. tongue.gif

Found the memory card reader. It was hiding right in front of me.
I don't know what's up with the flash but here's what you get with my camera:
Bear in mind, this is with me flexing the valve cover as hard as I though I could without cracking it more:

Since that picture isn't much help, I just went and tried again. When you REALLY pull on it, the crack shows as a hairline all the way to the corner (to the left) and curves up to meet the camshaft oil seal at about 7:00 (on the right).

1.8L lower cover = different. Upper maybe the same. Valve cover = same. That's why MY 1.8L timing covers aren't heading out to him!
If your valve cover isn't cracked sell him that one. Bedtime 4 me g'nite!

well that's a bummer, it'd probably be easier for you to get your valve cover and lower timing cover all from the same person. Well, you know what I have shoot me an e-mail if you want any of it (oh and my valve cover gasket was recently replaced (by recently I mean since the last tis it was driven, lol). So I know it's not recommended but you could probably get away with using my gasket, it's still all flexible.

No local junkyards?
You can get a VC for about $20.

I would go that route but they won't sell just the cover, they only want to sell the motor as one piece.
I'll let you guys that I haven't contacted know if I still need your parts.
thanks everyone!
